5 September 7pm St Bartholomew's Church, Wilmslow - Bog Standard
Bog Standard is the untold story of a tip off which led a rookie journalist to one of the most important archaeological finds of the 20th century. It’s also a story about a magical place called Lindow Moss, two murders 1500 years apart, and how an ancient bog man became a 21st-century eco warrior.
Join award-winning journalist and storyteller Rachel Pugh and prize-winning harpist Lucy Nolan in their one-hour show, in which they weave words and music together to recreate the nail-biting days of 1984 when Rachel fought to make sure Lindow Man did not end up in a bag of plant compost.
Suitable for children.

Dark Secrets - blackwater bogs, the bodies they yield and the stories they tell with John Wallace
Peat bogs are present all over northern Europe, and in this talk, local historian and author John Wallace discusses their formation, location, composition and the bodies that they have yielded over the centuries, from Denmark and the Soviet Union to the United Kingdom and England - in particular Shropshire and the North West.
This talk will also provide a general introduction to the historic remains found on Lindow Moss - not just those of Lindow Man, but of remains that involved a suspected killing, a confession and conviction for murder. John Wallace has written several non-fiction and fiction books. His latest novel, 'The Mire', is about Lindow and the hold it exerts over those who have lived there, past and present. At Wilmslow Guild
Wednesday 13th November 1.30pm-3.30pm Introduction to the Discovery of Human Remains: ancient times to 19th Century with Steve Millward.
What are the origins of human beings? What do we know about the earliest humans? That we are able to provide at last partial answers to these questions is due to the efforts of scientists and archaeologists working in locations across the globe. This is an introduction to those discoveries. We will look at the unearthing of the first human remains through to the 'bog bodies'. At Wilmslow Guild.
