Breathing New Life into Lindow Moss: A Volunteer's Perspective

In 2024, Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside were awarded a £250,000 grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to restore Lindow Moss. For World Heritage Day 2025, the National Heritage Lottery Fund interviewed volunteer John Handley where they covered everything from peat to 200-year-old bodies and all that’s in between. You can read the interview and watch the video here - 'Saving Lindow Moss: Peatland, People, Place, a heritage tale - National Lottery Good Causes'

John Handley points out a Bird Cherry tree. John says: "It's white blossom should be out in April (annually). It's the only example I know of this particular tree in the local area.
