On Saturday 10th May, FoLM help a Biological Recording Day where 30 people spent the day exploring Lindow Moss cut-over peatland to record the amazing creatures and plants that live in it.
The day started with a moth trapping exercise held over the night before by the local Moth group trapping moth species from their back gardens in Wilmslow. Around 30 species were observed and some of these were collected to show the next day before release, unharmed.
Collectively over 300 different species were found and recorded, this ranged from bird to plants to insects and everything inbetween! To view some of the species found on the day, please look at iNaturalist.
Our thanks go to the many people who helped make this event a success and to Horticon Ltd who allowed Friends Of Lindow Moss to use their field to establish the base camp and Denise who lent us some tables and a gazebo for shade.
